Bristol's Multi-disciplinary Sex & Relationships
Training Programme
We offer a
number of training courses for those working with young people in Bristol.
The courses aim to increase workers' confidence and skills to respond
appropriately to young people’s queries, refer them to appropriate sources
of support and advice and to carry out effective sex and relationships work.
All the courses are free of charge and are facilitated by members of a
multi-agency sex and relationships trainers’ network.
Our current
courses are listed below. To find out more about each course and to

A comprehensive and well supported sex and relationships training programme,
available to the whole of the Children and Young People’s workforce, has
been shown to be an essential aspect of a successful Teenage Pregnancy
Strategy.
This training programme has therefore been developed as one of the key
elements of the Bristol Teenage Pregnancy Strategy action plan and the cost
is met by the Teenage Pregnancy Partnership. At present,
those working with the most vulnerable young people are being prioritised.
The principle underlying all the training is to advocate positive sexual
relationships and the rights of all groups of young people in society to
make choices about these relationships; and to respectfully challenge
discrimination and prejudice. All our courses include small group
experiential activities to assist learning and encourage discussion and
exploration of attitudes. We aim to be holistic in our view of sexual
health, and inclusive in delivery.
