Working with LGBT Young People and Sexual Health

Aimed at:
This course is designed for those who are involved with or planning to develop their sex and relationships and substance misuse work with groups of young people or individually. Participants may benefit from attending Level 1 Sex & Relationships and Level 1 Substance Misuse, but this is not a pre-course requirement.

Aims:
To develop participant’s awareness of and confidence in working and supporting LGBT young people around their sex and relationships needs.

Learning Outcomes:
• Gain an understanding of the issues that affect LGBT young people and how these can influence choices about sexual behaviour
• Raise awareness of how homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism prevent LGBT young people accessing sexual health services
• Raise awareness of the kind of support LGBT young people may require in relation to sexual health
• Acquire knowledge of policy and legislation in place to ensure equality of opportunity
• Acquire practical tools and information to support young people

You can use the same form to apply for more than one course at a time but please ensure you include the title AND date of all the courses you wish to attend. These courses are free but if you cannot attend, you must let us know by 9a.m. on the day before the course or you will be charged £50 for full-day courses and £25 for half-day courses.
