Level 2: Healthy Relationships and Teen Abuse

In response to both feedback from professionals, and the NSPCC report on teenage relationships, we have created a 1-day course for those working with young people in Bristol looking specifically at relationships.

Aimed at:
This course is aimed at practitioners working with young people who have attended Level 1 Sex and Relationships training and wish to extend their learning to carry out more focussed and proactive work in their setting. Please note, if you have attended BDAF Understanding Domestic Violence Training, there is some similar information included in this course. However this course is aimed specifically at those working with young people and around these issues.

Participants must have attended Level 1 Sex & Relationships, or have a good level of experience of sexual health or domestic violence work.

Aims:
To improve participants’ ability to work with young people around the issue of healthy and unhealthy relationships. The course will develop skills in understanding and spotting abusive relationships, referring to support services and developing activities for young people around relationships.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Activities to use with young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships
  • Understanding what domestic violence and abuse is, its forms and impacts
  • Recognising and understanding the context of teen abuse, how to identify those affected and recognising risk factors
  • Where to refer or sign post young people to for support
  • How to work with those concerned about their own behaviour

Please complete the form below at least 3 weeks before the date you have chosen. You will receive a letter 2 weeks before the course confirming your place & providing details of the venue. You can use the same form to apply for more than one course at a time but please ensure you include the title AND date of all the courses you wish to attend. These courses are free but if you cannot attend, you must let us know by 9a.m. on the day before the course or you will be charged £50 for full-day courses and £25 for half-day courses.
