Safe Relationships
A recent NSPCC report revealed the extent of abuse within teenage relationships including that 1 in 4 teenage girls have suffered physical violence.
As a parent or carer you can help by talking to your son or daughter about safe relationships, respect and consent as they’re growing up. This will help them understand what is and isn’t acceptable within a relationship.
You can also help spot abuse.
Some of the signs might include:
- Their partner is verbally aggressive or threatens to hurt them
- Their partner bullys them and makes them feel bad
- Their partner gets angry when they talk to other people
- Their partner makes them do things they don’t want to
- Their partner blackmails them or threatens them
- Their partner hurts them, their friends, family, pets or property
