Puberty
Puberty can be a very scary and emotional experience for your son or daughter. To help them cope with these changes, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with what will happen so that you can reassure them and put them at ease.
Girls can start their periods as young as 8 and boys can start puberty as young as 10 so it’s a good idea to chat to your child before changes begin to happen so that it doesn’t come as a shock. You will also be able to reassure them that the physical and emotional changes are normal and that puberty can happen earlier or later than in their friends.
It is also a good idea to discuss what the opposite sex will be going through at this stage so that they understand and appreciate what is happening to their friends and peers.
