Condom C-Card
IF YOU ARE UNDER 25 YOU CAN GET FREE CONDOMS THROUGH BRISTOL’S C-CARD SCHEME!
To get a C-card you need to go to one of the C-card registration points across the city. You will have a confidential chat with a trained C-card worker, who will:
- explain the scheme
- teach you the best way to use condoms
- answer any questions you might have.
You don’t need to give your name and they won’t tell your parents/guardians that you have been to see them.
Once you have a C-card you can go to any C-card pick up point and be given free condoms. You can do that up to ten times before coming back in for another chat with a C-card worker. This gives you the chance to ask more questions or talk about any concerns you have. You will then get a new C-card to use.
NEW! You can now pick up free condoms from four chemists in Bristol using your C-card. These are the Asda Chemist in Bedminster, Ashgrove Pharmacy in Ashley Down, Lloyds Pharmacy on Whiteladies Road and Lloyds Pharmacy in Henbury.
Free condoms are also available at all the 4YP young people’s sexual health clinics and all the 4YP Drs surgeries (family doctors). You can also buy condoms in pubs, clubs, supermarkets, petrol stations, chemists and pharmacies.
Why are condoms so great?
Condoms are the ONLY contraceptive method that protects against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well as pregnancy.
But, it’s always best to go ‘double dutch’. This means you use a condom to protect against STIs and use another form of contraception (e.g. The implant or pill) to protect against pregnancy. Because no form of contraception is 100% effective this is actually the safest option.
