Local Policy
These guidelines are to support work with all young people in Bristol, in and out of school settings and come from Bristol Youth Links (Bristol City Council). They incorporate guidance for looked after young people and replace the 2003 guidance ‘sex and relationships education for looked after young people’.
This document is divided into three sections:
Section One: Sex and relationships policy for working with young people
This section sets out what the policy is on working with young people on sex and relationships issues. It covers the legal issues and the relationships between agencies. It is expected that all agencies in Bristol working with young people will adopt this policy.
Section Two: Practice guidelines
This section will be of practical use to all those working with young people in informal settings on sex and relationships issues. It covers some frequently asked questions about a variety of situations that will arise when working with young people.
Section Three: Appendices
This section includes supplementary documents to support the information provided in the policy.
